All About Chestnut Mushrooms
Chestnut mushrooms are sometimes mistaken for baby bella or button mushrooms, but are in fact an entirely different variety. Their rounded caps are similar in shape to button mushrooms, but are unique in appearance due to their dark brown caps that are often dotted with white fuzzy-looking spots. Chestnuts boast a full, nutty flavor and retain a crisp texture even after cooking. They are a delightful addition to soups, sauces, pasta dishes, and stir fries. They stand up well to high temperatures and longer cooking times, but are also excellent lightly sauteed on their own.
Chestnut mushrooms are rich vitamins B2, B3, D, as well as folate, biotin, niacin, selenium, potassium, and riboflavin.
