All About Shiitakes

Shiitake mushrooms originated in Asia over 1,000 years ago and are now a staple in Western cuisine. These mushrooms boast a rich, earthy flavor and firm, meaty flesh. They make an excellent meat substitute and are a delicious addition to pastas, stir fries, and more.
Despite their modest appearance, shiitake pack a serious nutritional punch. They are truly a super food, full of vitamins A, B2, B12, C, and D, as well as the minerals iron, calcium, copper, selenium, zinc and manganese. They are also rich in fiber and amino acids.
